The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge

is seeking candidates for the position of

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

The Director of Community Engagement will occupy a newly-created, full-time position at the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge.  This individual will advance the Foundation’s capacity to effectively engage residents across the full spectrum of the community we serve in order to develop a deeper understanding of our community’s opportunities and challenges.  The Foundation will utilize community engagement for the purpose of enhancing the effectiveness of its community investments, particularly through its grant making activities, new program development, and the leadership that the Foundation can provide to facilitate meaningful change in our community.

The Director of Community Engagement will fulfill the Foundation’s commitment to resident engagement, in part, by partnering with local organizations and community leaders to plan and carry out facilitated exchanges with residents of all backgrounds throughout the year.

The Director of Community Engagement will also contribute to maintaining regular communication with area nonprofit leaders and the Foundation’s corporate partners.

Preferred Professional Experience:

Candidates for this position should have a track record of:

  • Effective community engagement, whether that has been within the nonprofit, for profit, or public sector, with specific experience in facilitating group dialogue with a wide variety of constituencies.
  • Successful program management, with the proven ability to research best practices, assess program performance, and design program improvements.
  • Persuasive writing and presentation for a wide variety of audiences.

  • Nonprofit management
  • Personnel management
  • Budget management
  • Board management

Compensation: Salary will be commensurate with Program Directors at comparable community foundations.
