Mission: Valley Alliance for Education’s (VAE) mission is to engage community partners to promote excellence in Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro public schools. The following four key values guide their efforts:
- Imagine and then create opportunities for effective dialogue between employers and educators
- Innovate while addressing current and anticipated educational needs
- Inspire teaching excellence
- Invest in regional efforts focusing on quality of life and economic development by providing resources for classroom enrichment
Community Need: The Valley Alliance for Education Creative Classroom Grants (CCG) program has been established to promote educational excellence and creative instruction in the region by funding special student-centered projects. These projects encourage innovation in the classroom and increase cooperation between the public school systems and the private sector in the community. This year VAE extended the CCG program to Pre-K teachers after consulting with all three school superintendents. Their program allows teachers a resource to greatly enhance the learning experience for their students. The school districts lack adequate funding to support special programs and technology needed in the classroom. Teachers who receive grants are excited to be able to implement programs that they believe in. The CCG program has an excellent evaluation method to ensure that grant requests are fully vetted.
