Based on the results of a survey, the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge is offering two of its nonprofit workshops at The Highland Center in June and August.
A number of nonprofit employees, board members, and other volunteers in Highland County have expressed great interest in the workshops, which the Community Foundation typically presents in Waynesboro, since the Foundation launched its annual series of professional development opportunities in 2017. The Foundation made the decision to bring some of its high-demand workshops to Monterey to offer Highland County residents greater convenience to participate and learn together.
The first workshop, scheduled for June 25 from 3-5PM, will focus on the effective leadership of a nonprofit board of directors. Cindy Colson, Deputy Director of Strategic Partnerships for the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, will lead that workshop.
The second workshop, scheduled for August 8 from 3-5PM, will cover the nuts and bolts of grant writing to raise money for the work of local nonprofit/charitable organizations. Laurie Rogers, an independent fundraising consultant who has worked with nonprofit organizations on all aspects of fundraising, will lead this workshop.
Anyone interested in participating in one or both of the Community Foundation’s workshops may register online at www.cfcbr.org/highland-workshops. The participation fee is $55 per person. Individuals representing a Center for Nonprofit Excellence member organization may register for $35 per person. Individuals do not need to be currently working or volunteering for a nonprofit organization in order to participate.
