Why We Exist
Creative Works Farm operates Camp LIGHT, a summer camp for children with special needs and at risk youth. Our mission is to show kids with special needs and circumstances that life is only limited by their imagination, and to give them new tools and skills, along with love and support, to inspire them to become anything they can dream.
What We Do
Creative Works Farm (CWF) believes in the importance of embracing children in our community and giving them opportunities to shine! We work with some of our more vulnerable children…those with special needs and at risk youth, and give them a loving and nurturing environment that allows them to excel. CWF operates Camp LIGHT, a summer camp for children with special needs and at risk youth, located on a 160 acre farm just outside of Waynesboro, VA. Camp LIGHT was established to provide services for kids with special needs and their families. Our goal is to ensure children with different medical, physical, and other obstacles can enjoy the excitement of camp, and build lifetime friendships with other children with similar backgrounds. We offer a day camp experience for children with programs designed for all types of disabilities and at risk youth, at no cost to the families attending. Our summer camp activities focus on areas that encourage our campers to be active, learn about healthy living, and empower them to learn new skills that will make a positive impact in their lives.
Who We Serve
Children ages 6-17 with special needs diagnoses (autism, ADHD, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, Sensory Processing Disorders, diabetes, and many more), as well as those classified as “at risk youth” (foster care, homelessness, past history of abuse, etc). We also host one week of camp for adults with special needs who have aged out of traditional camp programs.

Our goal is to improve the life of kids with special needs and at risk youth through results-driven summer camp programs. According to area needs assessments, there is a need for programs that work to impact mental health, programs for kids, and programs that promote physical activity. Not only do our programs fall into these categories, they also fill they gap due to lack of program opportunities for many kids with behavior-based special needs.
*Charitable contributions to Creative Works Farm make a direct impact to children and families within our community
*There are many different ways to make a financial contribution: direct general donation, sponsorships, leaving a legacy and donations for specific programs.
*Creative Works Farm is constantly growing and will continue to expand to meet the needs of children with special needs and at risk youth within our community.
How Volunteers Contribute to our Work:
