Shortly after the August 8 flash flood event in Staunton, your Community Foundation established a Flood Relief Fund to receive charitable gifts in support of local residents whose homes and belongings were affected by the flood. The outpouring of support has been incredible. Contributions have surpassed our goal of $100,000 and presently stand at over $114,000. Thank you! Let’s not stop there, though. We believe that we can raise $125,000 to bring some much-needed relief to our neighbors affected by the flood. Help us get there with your donation!
The Community Foundation is working in close partnership with the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission (CSPDC) to contact residents who reported damages to the City. They will also begin distributing our funds to residents by September 30.
If you are a resident whose home or belongings were affected by the summer’s floods and you have not heard from CSPDC by September 25, or you did not report your damages to the city, please contact Rebecca Joyce at the CSPDC: 540-885-5174.
We know that the Staunton Flood Relief Fund will not provide each resident with everything they need for their full recovery, but we hope to make a meaningful difference for as many of our neighbors as possible.
Please contact us if you have any questions.
