United Way Grant Fulfillment Fund

When the United Way of Staunton, Augusta County & Waynesboro made the difficult decision to terminate operations in late 2024, thirteen nonprofit organizations serving our community faced the loss of over $140,000 in grants committed to them by the United Way.

The Board of Directors of the United Way sought the assistance of the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge to receive and distribute charitable gifts that had been pledged to the United Way. In response, the Community Foundation established the United Way Grant Fulfillment Fund.

To date, the Community Foundation has received and distributed over $50,000 to fulfill approximately 35% of the outstanding balance of the United Way’s grant commitments. The Foundation will keep its United Way Grant Fulfillment Fund open through June 2025 to process additional contributions.

We Need Your Help to Build an Accessible Playground

The Kiwanis Club of Waynesboro is celebrating its 100 Year Anniversary by installing an accessible nature-themed playground along the South River Greenway. The Club is seeking support from the community to help bring this dream to life.

This inclusive nature playground is thoughtfully designed and will feature an accessible surface – the first of its kind in the Staunton, Augusta County, Waynesboro region- so children and family members are able to access equipment and play together in a safe, fun environment.
