The KDM Scholarship
Description
This scholarship was established to make a four-year college degree attainable for motivated Waynesboro High School seniors for whom the cost of attending college is a significant barrier to enrollment.
Award
A four-year scholarship commitment of $20,000 ($5,000 applied toward tuition and fees each year for four years). Preference is given to students planning to attend James Madison University, the University of Virginia, or Virginia Tech.
Eligibility
- An eligible student must be a graduating senior at Waynesboro High School in the year they apply.
- An eligible student must demonstrate financial need.
- An eligible student must have a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. on a 4.0 scale.
- An eligible student must plan to enroll in a four-year degree program at a public university in Virginia.
- An eligible student must be recognized by their teachers and counselors as motivated and capable of successfully completing a four-year college degree.
Renewal
The scholarship is renewable for three additional years, provided the recipient:
- Completes the Foundation’s scholarship renewal form each year,
- Provides transcripts demonstrating a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. in college, and
- Remains enrolled in a four-year degree program at a public university in Virginia (transfers to another Virginia public university are permitted).
If circumstances beyond a recipient’s control — such as a family illness — result in a temporary absence from college, the Foundation may defer scholarship payments for up to two years.
