Coach Rodney Cullen Memorial Scholarship

The Coach Rodney Cullen Memorial Scholarship was established at the Community Foundation in 2025 by the 2025/2026 Wilson Memorial Athletics Booster Club to honor a beloved Hornet coach. Rodney Harold Cullen (1962–2025) of Stuarts Draft is remembered for his generosity, approachable spirit, and the countless hours he devoted to the students and athletes of WMHS, and the community. The award recognizes Wilson Memorial student-athletes who reflect his integrity, character, and dedication to team and community.

Eligibility

  • Eligible students must be graduating seniors at Wilson Memorial High School.
  • Eligible students must be a student athlete in good standing having earned a minimum of one varsity letter.
  • An eligible student will have demonstrated integrity and an admirable character through community service and school-based activities
  • An eligible student must be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year and plan to enroll at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the Continental United States the following academic year.

Selection
Recipients will be chosen based on their athletic participation, character, service to school and community, and readiness for postsecondary success. 

Award Amounts:

Two scholarships of $1,000 each — one male student-athlete and one female student-athlete.

The Coach Rodney Cullen Memorial Scholarship will be held and administered by the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge, which accepts contributions of all forms, including:

  • Checks made payable and delivered to the Community Foundation (P.O. Box 815, Staunton, VA 24402)
  • Online contributions placed on your credit card or debit card
  • Appreciated securities
  • IRA Charitable Rollovers
