MIMA Music
Why We Exist
MIMA Music is a 501(c)(3) music education nonprofit that engages and enriches communities through music improvisation and collaborative songwriting.
What We Do
MIMA provides unique group music programs led by professional musicians and experienced music educators directly to the public and in collaboration with schools and community organizations.
Who We Serve
MIMA works primarily with K–12 youths but also provides unique group music experiences to adults.
Where We Serve
Why Community Members Support Our Work
MIMA aims to provide enriching and engaging musical experiences that also build positive relationships among participants. We do so by creating unique curriculums focused on the act of musical improvisation, curriculums that emphasize creation, participation, and expression. We identify populations that can uniquely benefit from our work and would be deprived of musical enrichment without our intervention; we then send our Teaching Artists into the communities where they live, study and play for indefinite periods with the goal of becoming a familiar face in the community.
