Samuel’s Supper

Why We Exist

Samuel’s Supper™ is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides short-term financial support to families who have a child facing a life-threatening medical crisis. While most of us wake up each morning and go about our normal daily routine, there are many families who will start their day in a hospital room watching over their critically ill child. These families are not only worrying about the health of their child, they’re also worrying about missed work, increased travel expenses, and paying for medical treatments that insurance plans do not cover. When parents must forego work to become caregivers, even covering basic needs such as groceries and the mortgage payment can be overwhelming.

What We Do

At Samuel’s Supper™, we work diligently to make sure essential needs are met for families whose child is experiencing a life-threatening medical crisis. Samuel’s Supper™ makes direct, emergency payments for families towards expenses such as, but not limited to, utilities, mortgage or rent, auto loans, auto repair, groceries, and travel. Parents who are struggling with the very real possibility that their child may never return home should not be distracted by monetary worries. Samuel’s Supper™ helps families worry less about expenses and spend more time focusing on their critically ill child.

Who We Serve

Samuel’s Supper™ addresses the financial needs of individuals in the community who have a child in medical crisis. Our unique benefit to communities lies in our ability to support families of children who face any life-threatening medical condition. Children in need of a heart or liver transplant, cancer patients, and children in the NICU/PICU are all examples of patients whose families may receive financial support. Furthermore, financial support for families is not limited by the family’s geographical location or by the specific financial need.
Why Community Members Support Our Work
Working together, good things happen! Samuel’s Supper™ brings community leaders together to help a family in need: In 2019, a representative from UVA Children’s Hospital contacted Samuel’s Supper™ to ask for assistance regarding a cancer patient named Raegan, whose family needed help with costs associated with auto insurance and auto repair. Recognizing that transportation to and from medical appointments was of the utmost importance to Raegan’s health, Samuel’s Supper™ was glad to lend a hand. But not only did Raegan’s family need help, they needed a car!  Samuel’s Supper™ initiated a partnership with Scott Simons, General Manager and Managing Partner at Valley Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in Staunton, VA , and provided a vehicle to the family at no cost. We’re so glad to know that Raegan will now have safe, reliable transportation over the mountain for her leukemia treatments, expected to end in 2020. We are dedicated to using your gifts wisely, and we are confident that you will appreciate the spirit of compassion that drives our organization. Thank you for working with us to help care for families who have a child in medical crisis.
