Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Habitat for Humanity

Why We Exist

“Building and restoring homes, lives and communities through faith.”

What We Do

Habitat for Humanity works with qualified families to help them become successful homeowners. Each family goes through an extensive financial and home ownership education program and contributes over 200 hours of their time to the construction of the home they will own. Successful “partner families” receive a “zero equivalent” interest mortgage based on what they can afford.

Who We Serve

Habitat for Humanity serves individuals and families living between 30% and 80% of the Area Median Income. In Augusta County (including Staunton and Waynesboro) this means an annual income for a family of 4 between $24,600 and $51,500, for a single person it is $13,550 – $36,050.
Why Community Members Support Our Work
A contribution to Habitat for Humanity is an investment in a family’s future. Our mission is to empower people to take control of their personal finances and build wealth through home-ownership. When a family goes through this program and becomes a homeowner, they have graduated. They are then on the path to ending generational poverty in their own lives. Habitat for Humanity is in the business of ending poverty one family at a time.
