Henry and Carolyn Obaugh Memorial Scholarship

Henry and Carolyn Smith Obaugh were long-time members of First Baptist Church of Staunton, and their lives were deeply rooted in Christian faith and service. In their memory, their son, Dean Obaugh, established this scholarship to honor their enduring commitment to a life of spiritual purpose and community involvement.

The Henry and Carolyn Obaugh Memorial Scholarship supports individuals of any age who are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies with the intent to pursue vocational ministry, either full-time or part-time.

Eligible applicants must demonstrate:

  • A clear calling to ministry,

  • A record of leadership and service in Christian contexts, and

  • Endorsement from ministry leaders through letters of recommendation.

While financial need and academic merit may also be considered, the heart of this scholarship lies in uplifting those who feel led to serve through ministry—just as Henry and Carolyn did in their daily lives.

The Henry and Carolyn Obaugh Memorial Scholarship will be held and administered by the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge, which accepts contributions of all forms, including:

  • Checks made payable and delivered to the Community Foundation (P.O. Box 815, Staunton, VA 24402)
  • Appreciated securities
  • IRA Charitable Rollovers
