Paul Hatcher was a teacher in Staunton City Schools for 45 years and Judy was a teacher in Staunton City Schools for approximately 20 years. Paul, also affectionately known as Coach Hatcher, is the winningest public school boys’ basketball coach in Virginia, with 897 wins. At one point during his Hall-of-Fame tenure, the team won 85 consecutive games. The consecutive wins were the subject of a book, The Staunton Streak.
Eligibility
- An eligible applicant must be a senior at Staunton High School.
- An eligible applicant must demonstrate financial need.
- An eligible applicant must be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year and plan to enroll at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the continental United States the following academic year.

The Paul and Judy Hatcher Memorial Scholarship will be held and administered by the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge, which accepts contributions of all forms, including:
