R. Alan Shull Scholarship
The R. Alan Shull Scholarship was established in 2026 by members of the Fort Defiance High School community to honor Raymond Alan Shull’s 46 years of dedicated service to the school. Throughout his career, Mr. Shull’s commitment to his students and to the fine arts program left a lasting mark on Fort Defiance and the broader community he served. This scholarship was created to carry that legacy forward by supporting students who share his passion for the arts and his standard of personal excellence.
Awarded annually in the amount of $1,000, the scholarship recognizes Fort Defiance graduates who have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrated good character, and participated in the fine arts for at least two years. Preference is given to students with two or more years in the band and to those pursuing careers in music education or a field related to music or education — areas that were central to Mr. Shull’s own life and work. The first award will be presented in 2027.
