The Roy B. Martin Memorial Scholarship was created to memorialize the life of the late Roy B. Martin. Mr. Martin was a long time educator in Waynesboro and Augusta County Public Schools.

Description

The Roy B. Martin Memorial Scholarship was established to provide funds for college scholarships to graduating seniors of Waynesboro High School who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and are active in the community. Scholarship recipients are eligible to re-apply for a second year of funding as long as the recipient continues to meet scholarship criteria and funds are available.

Eligibility

  • An eligible student must be a graduating senior at Waynesboro High School.
  • An eligible student must demonstrate financial need, academic achievement and participate in school and community service/activities.
  • An eligible student must be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year and plan to enroll at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the Continental United States the following academic year.

Selection Criteria Used by the Selection Committee

  • Financial Need- 50%
  • Academic Merit- 25%
  • Community service/activities- 25%
  • Those selected must be solid academically, as well as active in the community.
  • The candidate will be selected by the Waynesboro High School scholarship selection committee for recommendation to the Community Foundation, in accordance with the Community Foundation’s Conflict of Interest Policy.
