The Tom Woodson Memorial Scholarship
The Tom Woodson Memorial Scholarship was established by Diane Woodson to honor her late husband, Thomas Elwood Woodson. This scholarship supports students pursuing post-secondary technical education, apprenticeship, or certification programs in electrical work and related skilled trades — or those entering the workforce in those trades immediately following high school.
Upon recommendation of Valley Career & Technical Center (VCTC), the Foundation awards one or more scholarships to graduating seniors enrolled in the Electrical or Industrial Maintenance programs at VCTC who have demonstrated financial need.
Eligibility
- An eligible recipient must be a graduating senior enrolled in the Electrical or Industrial Maintenance programs at Valley Career & Technical Center (VCTC).
- An eligible recipient must demonstrate financial need.
- An eligible recipient must plan to pursue post-secondary technical education, an apprenticeship, a certification program in electrical work or a related skilled trade — or enter the workforce in those trades directly after high school.
Award Details
Awards may take the form of traditional scholarships, paid directly to the recipient’s chosen post-secondary institution. If a recipient plans to enter the workforce immediately after high school, the Foundation will issue the scholarship as a grant to VCTC, which will reimburse the recipient for the cost of tools needed for their profession.
