Verna Newsome Memorial Scholarship

The Verna Newsome Memorial Scholarship was established in loving memory of Verna Newsome and in honor of her life! Verna Newsome, did many things during her short life: she was an accountant for the State of New Jersey, was one of the first AS400 programmers in Virginia, obtained her CDL license in her 40s and drove an 18 wheeler. She was a serial entrepreneur having established a thriving chocolate chip cookie business and a medical transportation company. She was a caseworker for Arizona’s Child Protective Services when her life ended.

Verna Newsome believed that she could do anything she put her mind to and the purpose of this scholarship is for the recipient to do just that.
